The swim may or may not be wetsuit legal (below 78 degrees), as the water temperature should be within a few degrees of the 78 degree cutoff.
If the water temperature as measured by the Race Referee on race morning is below 78 degrees, then you may wear a wetsuit. If it is above 78 degrees, but below 84 degrees, then you may wear a wetsuit but will be declared ineligible for any awards. It is unlikely that it will be above 84 degrees.
If you have a wetsuit, then bring it, so that you are prepared in case the race is wetsuit legal. The water temperature is not measured before race morning, so we cannot predict if it will or will not be wetsuit legal. Just bring it along and we’ll let you know race morning!
A wetsuit will make you more buoyant (safer) and decrease your swim time. If you want to wear a wetsuit and do not own one, you can find great deals on wetsuits at Mack Cycle or rent one from www.wetsuitrental.com.
